Tech4Good Awards 2016

On 6th July, Client Service Advisor Laura Aldridge and Junior Training Executive William Moorey were delighted to attend the Tech4Good Awards, at the BT centre in London. An event designed to celebrate companies that are utilising the empowering influence of digital technology – whether it’s at home, at work, in education.

The event was hosted by AbilityNet and presenters included Kate Russell from BBC technology show ‘Click’.

There was a wide variety of talented nominees for the awards including IT Volunteer of the Year Winner, Maureen Johnston, of Silver Line, a helpline supporting lonely older people; ‘Wayfindr’ the Winner of the Accessibility Award for their audio based app allowing visually impaired people to navigate the world independently; and the hugely popular Tech4Good People’s Award and Winner of Winners, 9 year old Arnav Sharma who developed the AsthmaPi testing kit, which helps parents understand their child’s asthma diagnoses.

“It’s such a friendly event, everyone who attended was blown away by the incredible concepts that had been developed, and how brilliantly they translated in the real world when they were put into practice” said Laura Aldridge.

William Moorey added “All the nominees clearly have so much passion about what they do, they are all so inspirational, and with over 200 entries this year, I wouldn’t have envied the judges picking the winners!”
